HP washing in Classic World

Players coming back from the old game ask this first: can you still wash HP? Here is what the Classic World client and Nexon say, and the Max HP you can get instead.

Does HP washing work?
No
One-point AP ResetNot in the game
MP from INTNone
AP into HPYes, for good
HP scrolls+10 a slot
1. The short answer

No. The old HP wash needs two things Classic World doesn't have: an AP Reset that moves one point at a time, and spare MP from INT to take that point out of. The only reset here, the AP Reset Scroll, puts every stat back at once, including the AP you put into HP.

You can still put AP into HP. It just stays there, so every point costs you damage for good. What to do instead:

  1. Keep your AP in your main statKilling faster means fewer hits taken, and AP in HP can only come back out with a full reset.
  2. Fill your hat, top and bottom with Hat HP Scroll: LesserIt never fails: +10 Max HP per slot, +70 on a 7-slot hat for about 10,500 mesos.
  3. Wear HP gear for your levelEvery class has a hat, top and bottom with Max HP at most levels. The lists below have them with prices.
  4. Put AP into HP only as a last resortIf a hit you can't avoid still kills you after all that, a few points in HP beat dying. Try one point first to see what your job gets.
2. How the old wash worked

In the pre-Big Bang game, washing was how Magicians, Bowmen and Thieves built enough HP for big bosses. It went like this:

  1. Level with INT gear onEach level gave more MP the more INT you had, so you built up MP you didn't need.
  2. Put AP into HPFresh AP from a level, or a point moved there with an AP Reset.
  3. Reset one point out of MPAn AP Reset took a single point from MP and put it back into your main stat. You lost a little of the spare MP and kept the HP.
  4. RepeatOne AP Reset per point, for as long as your MP stayed above the minimum for your level.

Each point cost one AP Reset, so a washed character was a long Cash Shop project. Steps 1 and 3 are what Classic World took away.

3. What Classic World changed
The old gameClassic WorldSource
AP Reset Moved one point from one stat to another. AP Reset Scroll: "Resets all stats, including AP invested in HP/MP." There is no one-point reset in the client. Game client, Nexon
MP per level More MP the more INT you had. A flat amount per class. INT adds none. Players (closed test)
Taking AP out of MP Any point, as long as MP stayed above a minimum. Only by resetting every stat. Nexon
Warrior HP skill Added Max HP to every level and every AP put into HP. Max HP Increase: Max HP +25% at level 15. Game client

NoteSome sites say only Warriors can put AP into HP. Nexon's Classic World guide says every class can, and that how much HP a point gives depends on your job.

4. Putting AP into HP

Every class can put AP into HP or MP from the stat window ([S]). The game doesn't show how much a point will give, so add one and look at your Max HP.

What it costs

  • Each point in HP is a point out of your main stat, so you hit softer from then on.
  • It can't be undone one point at a time. The AP Reset Scroll resets every stat, and you put all your AP back by hand. Write your stats down before you use it.
  • You get the AP Reset Scroll from the Cash Shop or from events. It works from level 10.

HP from levels

What each level gives, to put the other numbers on this page in scale. A hat full of Hat HP Scroll: Lesser is worth this many levels of HP:

ClassMax HP per levelMax MP per levelA +70 HP hat equals
Warrior+28+122.5 levels
Magician+16+224.4 levels
Bowman+22+173.2 levels
Thief+22+173.2 levels

Players measured these in the second closed test. Each job advancement also adds a one-time HP and MP bonus.

5. HP scrolls

HP scrolls exist for hats, tops and bottoms only. Overalls, gloves and shoes have none, so wearing an overall gives up the top's and bottom's 14 slots of HP.

Hat HP Scroll: Lesser never fails and gives the most Max HP per slot on average, so it's the one to use. With every slot passed, a hat, top and bottom add +210 Max HP between them.

The riskier tiers only pay off if you're lucky, and the Chaos one can destroy the item. Try them in the scroll simulator first.

6. HP gear by class

The gear with the most Max HP for its level, slot by slot: each step beats everything before it. ♂ and ♀ mark clothes only one sex can wear. Prices are what each item sells for on HubCW.

7. Skills that keep you alive

Max HP isn't the only way to survive a hit. These skills do more for some classes than any AP in HP would:

  • Warrior: Max HP Increase adds +25% Max HP at level 15, and it costs no AP. Iron Body adds +40% Weapon DEF for 600 seconds.
  • Magician: with Magic Guard maxed, 80% of every hit comes out of MP, so a hit has to be about 5 times your HP to kill you while your MP lasts. For a Magician, Max MP is the HP that counts. Max MP Increase adds +25% Max MP at level 15.
  • Cleric: Bless cuts the damage your party takes by 15%.
8. Sources & notes
  • From the game data: the AP Reset Scroll and its text, the HP scrolls, the gear's Max HP and requirements, and the skill numbers. They update when the game does.
  • From Nexon: every class can put AP into HP and MP, HP per point depends on the job, and the AP Reset Scroll resets every stat and comes from the Cash Shop or events (Character Stats guide).
  • From players: HP and MP per level, and INT adding no MP, were measured in the second closed test (meowdb). The live game may differ.
  • Calculated: the average per slot is the success rate times the Max HP. The Lv. 70 totals assume every hat, top and bottom slot passed with Hat HP Scroll: Lesser and no shield. Prices are the median HubCW sale of the last 30 days, or the median Free Market ask when nothing sold; a dash means neither.
