The bosses of Classic World

Where each boss lives, how often it comes back, how many hits your class needs, and why you hunt them for quests and loot, not EXP.

1. The short answer
  1. Bosses are not an EXP sourceMushmom gives 9.9 EXP per 1,000 HP. Fire Boar, a normal monster near its level, gives 71.3. Every boss is like that, so train on normal monsters and hunt bosses for quests, fame and drops.
  2. Start with Mano at level 20It lives in Thicket Around the Beach III near Lith Harbor, and every class guide's Budget build needs only 31 to 43 attacks at that level. Then work up the list as you level.
  3. Each boss comes back about 1 h after it diesJr. Balrog takes 3 h. Every channel has its own boss, so when you find an empty map, change channels instead of waiting.
  4. Most of them hide behind hidden portalsHidden portals don't glow. Section 3 shows the way in to each one from the nearest town.
  5. Rotten Mushmom, Faust and Crimson Balrog: not in the world yetThe game data has their stats, but no map you can reach spawns them.
2. Every boss at a glance

Every boss in the game data, lowest level first. "Best nearby" is the normal monster within 10 levels below the boss that gives the most EXP per HP.

Bosses give 5 to 8 times less EXP per HP than the best normal monsters near their level, and they hit much harder.

3. Where to find them

The shortest way in from a town, map by map. Steps marked "hidden portal" have no glow: stand where the exit is and press up. The boss spawns at one spot on its map and comes back the stated time after it dies.

Rotten MushmomLv. 60 · 86,400 HP

The game files have a map for it, with a spawn every hour, but no road in the world leads there yet.

GMs can also summon it for monster invasion events (GM Black Sack: Rotten Mushmom Level 60).

MP for a Budget solo: 901–2,001 (about 901–2,001 mesos of Lemon).

FaustLv. 65 · 116,580 HP

The 21 October patch notes say it "joins the bosses", but no map in the game data spawns it yet.

MP for a Budget solo: 1,136–2,920 (about 1,136–2,920 mesos of Lemon).

Crimson BalrogLv. 100 · 741,240 HP

No map in the game data spawns it.

MP for a Budget solo: 11,728–28,991 (about 11,728–28,991 mesos of Lemon).

4. How long a solo takes

How many attacks each class guide's Budget build needs to kill each boss alone at the boss's level, with the Pro build under it. Each build uses its strongest single-target attack after the boss's defense, its element and your chance to hit. At about one attack a second, 60 attacks is a minute.

5. Quests that send you there

These quests ask you to beat a boss or bring something only it has. Do them on the same trip.

6. What they leave you

Items only bosses have

Their own text or a quest says where they come from. Keep the untradeable ones for their quest, and sell spare tradeable ones to players: an NPC pays very little for them.

DropsThe game client has no drop tables. HubCW learns drops from item pickups on stream, and a boss that shares its map with other monsters can't be told apart from them yet, so each boss's monster page lists its maybes.

Boss decorations for your home

Each of these bosses has a decoration for town housing. The game data doesn't say how you get them.

7. Solo or party?
Solo whenyour class needs under about 60 attacks (green in the table), you hit most of the time, and you can afford the potions. Mano and Stumpy: every class can solo them at their level.
Party whenthe table says 150 or more, or shows "!". A party also helps when the boss hits harder than one potion heals. The fight is shorter and safer; the EXP is shared.
  • Every boss attacks on sight and hits far harder than the monsters around it. Keep your HP high and your potion key close: the potions guide has the cheapest ones.
  • Clear the normal monsters on the map first, so they don't get in the way of your attacks or add their hits to the boss's.
  • Ranged classes (Bowmen, Assassins, Magicians) can attack from a distance and step away when it gets close. Warriors and Bandits trade hits, so they spend more on HP potions.
  • The map is empty? The boss is on its timer. Try the same map on another channel.
8. Questions

What is the easiest boss in Classic World?

Mano, a Lv. 20 boss with 7,420 HP. It appears in Thicket Around the Beach III near Lith Harbor about every 1 h. The class guides' Budget builds need 31 to 43 attacks at level 20.

How often do bosses respawn?

Each boss has its own spawn timer on its map: Mano 1 h, Stumpy 1 h, Mushmom 1 h, Shade 1 h, Zombie Mushmom 1 h, Jr. Balrog 3 h. Every channel has its own copy of the map, so if a boss was just killed, try another channel.

Where is Mushmom?

In Someone Else's House, through hidden portals from Henesys: Henesys → An Empty House (hidden portal) → Pig Park (hidden portal) → Pig Park II (hidden portal) → Someone Else's House (hidden portal). Press up where the portal should be; hidden portals have no glow.

Is hunting bosses good EXP?

No. Mushmom gives 9.9 EXP per 1,000 HP; Fire Boar near the same level gives 71.3. Hunt bosses for quests, fame and drops, and train on normal monsters.

Where are Rotten Mushmom, Faust and Crimson Balrog?

Not in the world yet: the game data has them, but no map you can reach spawns them. GMs can summon Rotten Mushmom for monster invasion events.

Can I solo Jr. Balrog?

It's Lv. 80 with 325,400 HP. At level 70 the guides' Budget builds need 211 to 381 attacks and the Pro builds 102 to 226, and you'll miss more than that because it out-levels you. Go with a party, and bring plenty of potions.

9. Sources & notes
  • From the game data: each boss's level, HP, EXP, defense, avoid, elements, the maps it spawns on and their spawn timers, the portals in, the quests and the item texts. They update when the game does.
  • Calculated: attacks to kill = HP ÷ (hits per attack × chance to hit × average damage after defense and element), from each class guide's own damage formula, gear and skill levels at the boss's level (Lv. 70 at most). Defense, element and hit-chance rules are the class guides' (community formulas); a boss above your level dodges more than shown. Burns, poison, Final Attack and the boss's own attacks aren't counted.
  • Spawn timers are the map's, from the game client. The server can add a little randomness.
  • Not confirmed: how Rotten Mushmom, Faust and Crimson Balrog appear. Rotten Mushmom's map is in the game files but not linked to the world; Faust is in the 21 October patch notes without a map. If you meet one, tell us where at [email protected].
  • Prices are the median HubCW sale of the last 30 days, or the median Free Market ask when nothing sold; a dash means neither.
