Story

In progress
Chrishrama rebound the ledger but couldn't restore one long entry. He sent me to the Hotel Receptionist, who keeps records of her own.

Completed
The Hotel Receptionist couldn't decode the long entry at all. She directed me to Kerning City to speak with the Dark Lord.

Full dialogue

Rebound and set. It's a proper ledger again rather than a heap.

Most of it came back. I wasn't able to fully restore the long entry, but I did notice something strange about it.
It is not written like the others. The short ones are one visit each, done and closed. That one goes on for pages and never settles on anything.

I can't make sense of what's left of it, mind. It reads like a record and I am not a record-keeper. Shall I point you toward someone who is?

Accept: Take it to the Hotel Receptionist at the Sleepywood Hotel. She keeps a book much like this one.
She may see something in it that I can't.

Decline: Please return when you are ready.

You'd like me to examine this book? Of course! Please, set it here.

Oh, this is kept just like my own records. Though I don't know the handwriting.

Entry 88. Four minutes recorded. Came into the Thieves' Hideout, started downstairs, changed their mind and left.

Entry 91. One hour in the steam room. Never once touched the water.
Those two are whole. Single entries, well kept. I have hundreds like them.

The long one is a bit confusing. It just goes on and on...
And the style changes as it goes. Not the handwriting — that is the same throughout. The way they wrote changes. As if this was written over many years?

I keep records like this myself. Arrivals, rooms, dates, and a closing line when a guest leaves. That last part is most of the job.

There is no closing line anywhere in here. Not one. Whoever keeps this book has been writing people in for years and nobody has ever signed out.

What I can read of the long entry is Kerning City, and a name I did not expect. The Dark Lord. Perhaps he can fill in the gaps. I'll go ahead and send it to him for you!
