I visited Manji again, whom I'd first met in Perion, when making the medicine for Maya of Henesys. Surprised at how much stronger I've become, Manji asked me for a favor. Long ago, when he was in danger of being struck down by Balrog, he was saved by the legendary hero Tristan, who ended up dying in Manji's place. Ever since then, Manji has held onto Tristan's sword. However, the blade was so corrupted by Balrog that it's almost too worn down to even be called a sword anymore...
Manji handed me the Old Gladius that he'd held onto all these years and asked me to reawaken its true form. Once fully awakened, it will become the Hero's Gladius. Manji told me to begin with seeking out Chrishrama in Sleepywood.

Who's bothering me now... Hey!! You have a knack for annoying me, even at the best of times... Well, that's all right. If you have indeed gotten that much stronger, then I'd like to see it firsthand. Did you put the Arcon's Blood to good use? Well, it's all in the past, so...
I would like you to help me out. Of course, I could take care of it myself, but I can't leave this area. What do you think...? You seem to have gotten strong enough to handle it easily... Will you take a crack at it?
Accept: Good choice. A few decades ago, I went into a huge cave in the middle of this island. In there, I felt this force of evil only I could feel, and I was sucked into it, following it deeper into the cave... I felt a sense of danger inside, but that didn't stop me from walking further into the cave.
Accept: By the time I regained consciousness, everything around me was blue. And in the middle of darkness I saw a pair of piercing eyes staring at me. He was... yeah, the mythical, legendary Balrog. Possessing a huge set of wings and teeth so sharp they could cut through anything...
Accept: I've spent all my life fighting, but his presence was undeniably overwhelming. My mind was telling me it was impossible to beat him, but he was already right in front of me. His weighty tail went up, high up... and starting moving towards me!
Accept: Right at that second, someone stood in its way. This man, with a mysterious aura around his sword, fought Balrog head on, allowing me to escape. After rescuing me, he was struck by Balrog and fell. He was... yes, the legendary hero Tristan.
Accept: I went to him... but he didn't look like he had much of a chance. Before it was too late, he handed me the Old Gladius, worn out by the sheer evil of Balrog, and then passed away. This is that same sword right here. I would love to restore this to its original state.
Accept: The sword becomes Hero's Gladius once it is reawakened. However, as for the details of how to reawaken it, I have no idea. I think you have to eliminate the evil force of Balrog, though... You should go see Chrishrama from Sleepywood and ask about it.
Decline: Hah... You must be still holding on to the fact that I thought nothing of you before... You can't catch up to me with that mindset! Now, I'm not so sure if I'll accept you, even if you do change your mind... hahah.
Old Gladius... A few decades ago, when I found out that Tristan had passed away, I couldn't believe my ears. I was the one that made the Hero's Gladius for him. I thought anyone worthy of possessing that sword would have been indestructible. I heard that the sword has since gone bad... has it gone old and rusty?
